“Vintage Love: Breathing New Life Into Old Canvases” September 13, 2024

Yes, it’s me—your favorite go-to international artist, emerging from what may have seemed like a year-long hibernation (or, let’s be honest, the world’s longest coffee break). I know, I know—it’s been a minute since I last posted here, but rest assured, I haven’t been twiddling my thumbs! I’ve been soaking up inspiration while traveling, working on a few exciting interior design projects (which has been SO much fun), and yes—sneaking around my studio, getting back to my first love: painting. And guess what? I’ve got something brand new and totally different to share with you!
So, you might remember my Urban Queen series—those fierce, fabulous ladies who’ve been owning the canvas for years. Well, don’t worry, they’re still around, holding court. But something magical happened recently. As I was doing some spring (well, summer) cleaning in the studio, I stumbled upon some very old canvases. We’re talking pieces I started almost a decade ago. Honestly, they’ve been hanging out so long they could’ve gone off to art school by now. 
But then, an idea hit me. Why not breathe new life into these older works? So, I picked up my paintbrush, started layering bold colors, and just like that—new energy started flowing. What emerged from those long-forgotten canvases is what I’m calling my new series: Vintage Love.
Meet Vintage Love: Where Old Meets New
This series is all about renewal—taking something that’s been quietly waiting in the background and giving it a fresh twist. These canvases had their own charm and history, but they were just waiting for the right moment to shine. With a little help from me (and a lot of creative playtime), they transformed into these gorgeous abstract flower paintings.
Imagine bold splashes of color, rich textures, and a whole lot of vibrancy bursting through the layers of paint. These pieces feel alive, like they’ve been simmering for a decade, just waiting for their moment. Think of them as the Urban Queens’ wild cousins—equally fabulous but with a slightly more spontaneous, free-spirited vibe.
Slow-Cooked Art, Years in the Making
People often ask me, “How long does it take to make a painting?” Well, in this case, the answer is… about 7 to 10 years! Yep, these canvases have been waiting in the wings for nearly a decade, but honestly, I think that’s part of what makes them so special. They carry the energy of my past work and the excitement of where I am now as an artist.
In truth, painting isn’t just about the time you spend with a brush in your hand. It’s about all the experiences, lessons, and creative growth that lead up to the moment the piece finally comes together. So yeah, these paintings have been slow-cooking, but I think they’re finally ready to be served!
The Big Question: What About the Urban Queens?
Now, before you start thinking I’ve totally abandoned the Urban Queen series, let me reassure you—they’re not going anywhere! These new Vintage Love pieces are special, but they’re not a permanent departure. Just a little creative detour. Think of it as adding a fun, colorful side dish to my usual artistic feast.
These six paintings are one-of-a-kind, born from the magic of reworking old canvases, so they stand alone in their uniqueness. And while they won’t be part of a long-running series like my Queens, they’re a little burst of joy and renewal that I’m so proud to share with you.
