I was born and raised at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Brasov, Transilvania, a scenic region of Romania acclaimed for its natural beauty. In contrast with these charming settings, the totalitarian and grey communist regime allowed for little colour and free artistic expression.
At the age of twelve I came across a book on Michelangelo, vibrant with colourful, magnificent paintings and I immediately connected with the art. I vowed to myself to escape the dreary, colourless communist system at the earliest opportunity and pursue a future in art.
Fortunately communism crumbled at the end of 1989 and I took the first opportunity to follow my dream by moving to London in the early nineties. I studied Fine Art at College of North-East London and a whole new world opened up to me. However I didn’t have the courage to pursue a career as a painter straight away, instead I went on to study Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion, part University of the Arts London. I became a fashion designer, later co-founding and building a high end fashion label, producing exquisite evening outfits for cosmopolitan socialites.
As my fashionista journey was unfolding, I developed an interest in psychology, spirituality and personal development. This was to be a long term feature and continues to this day, deeply influencing me as a human being and as an artist.
Along the way I learned leadership and personal growth from leaders such as Tony Robbins, Lousie Hay and Jim Rohn, spirituality from various luminaries in the field, including Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Brandon Bays, Dr. Brian Weiss, Neale Donald Walsch. I also studied NLP, angel therapy with Doreen Virtue, Reiki, shamanism, past life regression, Vortex energy and Theta Healing.
My artistic nature and love for aesthetic beauty soon found expression in a new area: interior design. This offered me the unexpected opportunity to reconnect with my homeland, where I quickly developed a boutique interior design practice, winning the Five Star award at the European Property Awards in London.
Getting back to my roots reignited the dormant but still burning desire to paint and be an artist. I took the plunge and closed my growing interior design business in order to fully concentrate on painting and my artwork. My international debut came two years later at a group exhibition in Miami. This was followed by several solo shows in Bucharest and Brasov and many group shows since.
My paintings now provide colour and character in homes stretching from Norway to Mexico, England to Latvia, and the Philippines to Romania.
My art aims to connect us to a different dimension, charming and fulfilling, but equally real and available. I warmly invite you to explore and celebrate the overlooked universe of our inner grace, of magic moments on our life journey, of deep and meaningful love, of majestic and everlasting natural beauty.
I am unreservedly and unapologetically an optimist, eternally in love with life, humankind and our riveting journey through life. Equally, I am in deep awe and a faithful admirer of nature’s perennial magnificence. My art is thus a labor of love, endeavoring to bring viewers moments of true joy and reverence. The themes, tones and brush stroke through my body of work pursue the ‘joie de vivre’, the uplifting and the beautiful.
